Today it is off to Vegas for me and my hubby! It is WPPI‘s annual conference and I hope to come back with some fresh ideas and a renewed sense of purpose for my photography. So many fun speakers to check out on topics ranging from the first email with a potential client to delivering their album. There is one thing I am disappointed about and that is the closure of the Neon Museum (Sign Graveyard) for the next few months. I have been looking forward to going there for almost a year. Guess I’ll just have to plan another trip to Vegas for the fall…I promise to post photos for sure when I return and hopefully while I’m there!

Today I have a wedding at Salish Lodge. It is supposed to be a really beautiful place and I can’t wait to get there! These photos are of the boys getting a little Wii time with Mom and Dad. Video games are really limited for them so they enjoy the time when they get it. Wii bowling seems to be the game of choice and it’s fun for everyone!

Football…my boys love football. Logan is the quarterback and Jordan seems to be everything else. For Christmas we got them a field goal post and they practice playing the game with the rules and everything. They hike the ball, score a touchdown, kick the extra point, and kickoff to the other team. It is quite amusing to watch. When it is just the two of them they practice throwing and catching and kicking field goals. My Uncle wants them to be NFL kickers because he figures it’s the most money for the least amount of work! Although, it seems to be a fairly high pressure job.

Lynden Co-op Preschool

The Lynden Co-op Preschool located in the United Methodist Church on 14th and Main street in Lynden is now accepting applications for fall enrollment. This is where both of my boys have attended and there is no better teacher than “Teacher Lynda”. She is amazing with the kids and everyday there are new and exciting activities. Preschool runs from 9:15am to 12:15pm giving you plenty of time to drop older children off at school first. One of the great things is that the children get outside play time at the end of the day (about 20 minutes to run around and expend some energy before going home). It is a co-op which means volunteering your time for working in the classroom and a few fundraisers, but it is totally worth the time. There are not many other places where you are encouraged to get to know all the kids and the other families. Also, almost once a month the preschool goes on a field trip to places like the museum, post office, library, etc. I have made some wonderful friends at this preschool, and I know that both of my sons have as well. Day 2 of the challenge and I have more photos to post. Now there may not be writing with each post because at some point I will run out of things to talk about and then I would just be rambling on and on and on…kind of like this.

These photos are from another of my fun birthday presents. This one came UPS in a big box and I was surprised at how light the box was. I shook it and it didn’t make any noise so I was totally confused. I was so surprised to open it and find a new volleyball!!!! Volleyball is my second favorite activity, just behind taking pictures. My best bud from high school purchased this for me (even though she shouldn’t have). This is my first new volleyball in about 10 years and I am so excited that she picked it out just for me.

365 Challenge {bellingham photographer}

There is a challenge out there to take a photo everyday for 365 days. Personally, I don’t think that I can do that. So, I’m going to start small and try to post a photo everyday for 30 days…we’ll go from there. While I love to be behind the camera, on days when I’m not shooting for work I have trouble picking it up anymore. Not because I don’t want to, but I already have so many photos of my kids that it fills an entire external hard drive. File sizes are so big these days that they start to bog down editing programs and things can run a bit slow. Maybe I’ll shoot medium sized JPEGS? Uhhhh, no. Even for personal work I can’t see shooting anything other than RAW. Just can’t help myself.

Here are some photos of my new toy to enjoy for today. This iPod touch is courtesy of my mother-in-law and some birthday money. You might laugh when you hear how I got it though… My mother-in-law, Linda, gave me a Macy’s gift card for my birthday. I went to the store and spent an hour or so trying on clothes and wandering around. She was very specific that I needed to spend the money on myself (and not buy clothes for my boys, who do in fact need some pants without holes). After deciding that I really don’t need any clothes right now, I passed by a different kind of vending machine. This vending machine contained iPods, digital cameras, and other fun goodies. I was so happy to discover that they accepted the Macy’s gift cards for payment!!!! I made my selection, proceeded to pay, and then this cool robotic arm moved to the correct row, grabbed my iPod, and put it in the dispenser. Very cool! Thanks Linda!

Crazy Sexy Fun {boudoir photography}

As most of you know, we held a “Crazy, Sexy, Fun Boudoir” weekend in January. It was a huge success and all of the ladies left feeling self confident not self conscience. It is so important for us as women to remember that we are beautiful no matter what shape or size. Boudoir sessions have two positives…first, the man in your life will appreciate such an original custom gift, and second as a self confidence booster. The photo I am posting is with permission of the client and will be the ONLY photo I will post on the blog from the boudoir sessions. There is a private password protected sample gallery available for viewing. If you are interested in booking a private session or party (minimum of 4 guests) please contact me via phone or email and I will share the password with you. Again, this was an awesome experience for all and we will for sure be putting on more parties so be on the lookout!
